Islanders Hit the Road to Challenge Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball continues conference play on the road as it travels to Lamar for a three-game series starting on Friday at Vincent-Beck Stadium.

"Lamar will be good as they got their 20th win last night in a big road win against TCU," said head coach Scott Malone. "I feel like our pitchers have some momentum going with Watson, Purcell and Hendricks on the mound. We need those guys to be good again and we need to defend this weekend on the turf."

The Islanders claimed their first conference series win of the season this past weekend, defeating New Orleans 2-1 in the weekend series. After narrowly falling in the first game of the series, the blue and green took the next two games, headlined by several home runs in the process.

Tre Jones, a junior, hit the first grand slam of the season for A&M-Corpus Christi in exactly a year on the date on Friday, April 14. He accumulated two home runs in the series for seven RBIS on five hits.

A&M-Corpus Christi continues extending the number of extra-base hits on the season with 64 doubles, 19 triples, and 18 home runs. Junior Jose Enriquez and senior Max Puls each hit the other two home runs on the weekend against the Privateers.

Lamar is coming off a Power Five victory over TCU where the Cardinals topped the Frogs 9-6 in the Tuesday matchup.

All three games are scheduled to be streamed on ESPN+ with a subscription with live stats free to follow as well.
