A&M-Corpus Christi Set to Host New Orleans

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball program looks to build momentum as it hosts New Orleans in a three-game series starting Friday night at Chapman Field.

"Blake Dean is a really good young coach in our league and has his program headed in the right direction," said head coach Scott Malone. "It will be a big challenge for us to get our ship going in the right direction this weekend. We need to pitch and play defense well."

A&M-Corpus Christi has collected 346 hits throughout the season to sit 24th in the nation. The team's combined .300 batting average leads the conference and holds them 44th in the nation.

Senior Max Puls rides a six-game hit streak into the matchup dating back to the second game against Abilene Christian. He owns a .316 batting average on the season with 31 total hits, nine of them coming in the form of extra-base hits.

Senior Brendan Ryan and junior Diego Johnson have started all 34 games played this season, the only two Islanders to have accomplished the feat this season. Leo Markotic and Sebastian Trinidad, a senior and junior respectively, have appeared in every game this season.

A&M-Corpus Christi brings a 59-game scoring streak into the series, dating back to a conference series against Northwestern State in the 2022 campaign.

The Privateers carry a five-game win streak into the series, including a three-game sweep over Southeastern last weekend. Brandon Mitchell, Saturday's starter, has thrown a complete game this season, one of two Privateers to accomplish the feat.

Friday kicks off the series at 7 p.m. with Saturday and Friday's matchups starting at 6 p.m. and 1 p.m. respectively. All three games are to be streamed on ESPN+ with a subscription.
