SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Coming off a midweek matchup at home, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi looks to take on its first baseball three-game series on the road against UTSA at Roadrunner Field from Friday to Sunday.
"They're 11-3 with a good schedule and have won every weekend," said head coach about
Scott Malone. "We need a good challenge and face a team on the road that's going to be ready for us and flip it around."
The Islanders and Roadrunners last faced each other in 2021 in Corpus Christi for a three-game series. A&M-Corpus Christi earned a victory over UTSA in 2020 on the road in a 7-6 game.
Texas Southern visited the Island Wednesday night as the two teams went toe-to-toe in a combined 27-run game as the Tigers narrowly edged the Islanders 14-13. The blue and green collected 14 hits with 13 runs spread over five different innings. Alongside the offense, the pitchers earned nine strikeouts on the night.
A&M-Corpus Christi remains tied for the most triples in the nation at 12 with the Roadrunners as the two teams have been tied atop the nation since the start of the week. Junior

Brendan Ryan are tied for the second-most triples in the nation with four on the season, sitting three behind the nation's leader.
Ahead of the midweek game, the Islanders swept Lindenwood in a four-game series while earning two shutouts on the first and fourth games of the weekend. Junior
Colin Purcell earned the start on Sunday's game and went on to pitch a complete game shutout to earn SLC Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Within the conference, A&M-Corpus Christi leads in triples, hits and slugging percentage. The Islanders have earned 144 hits through 13 played to sit at 19th in Division I baseball while fighting its way to a slugging percentage of .474.
Each game is scheduled to be streamed on CUSA.TV and have live stats to follow as they start at 6 p.m., 2 p.m., and 1 p.m. through Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively.
