CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi head men's basketball coach
Steve Lutz was tabbed as a finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year award, announced Tuesday.
The award honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity off of it as well.
Posser, who compiled a 126-68 record in six years at Wake Forest, passed away from an apparent heart attack on July 26, 2007. He was 291-146 overall as a head coach in 14 seasons, which included six as the head coach at Xavier and one at Loyola (Md).
Lutz carries a 44-22 overall record in two seasons on The Island. He was honored as the 2022-23 Southland Conference Coach of the Year after winning the regular season title outright. It came after Lutz coached the Islanders to the NCAA Tournament last year.
Lutz is one of 25 finalists for the award nationally and the only from the Southland Conference. The recipient of the 2023 award will be announced in March, in Houston site of the men's NCAA Basketball Championship.
