NEW ORLEANS – Southland Conference play continues for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's tennis programs when they travel for matches at New Orleans on Thursday at the Privateers Tennis Center, and Nicholls on Sunday at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.

The women (15-2, 2-0 SLC) will begin at 11 a.m. each day, followed by the men (12-6, 0-1 SLC) at 2 p.m.

The women have won four matches in a row and are 8-2 on the road this season. They opened conference play with home victories over Southeastern 7-0 and Northwestern State 4-3.

The women are 68-14 (.829) in singles as a team including 12-1 at No. 1, 14-1 at No. 5 and 12-1 at No. 6. The Islanders have also won the doubles point in both conference matches.

The women, who are the two-time defending SLC Tournament champions, are 105-37 in conference under head coach
Steve Moore since 2007. Moore is 9-2 against New Orleans and 13-0 against Nicholls.

The men have won three straight and are guided at the top of the lineup by SLC Player of the Week winner
Avery Zavala who went a combined 5-0 in singles and doubles last week. Most recently, the Islanders are coming off a 4-2 home victory over UT Arlington on Saturday as Zavala won both a singles and doubles match.Â

The men are 57-24 (.704) in singles as a team and will look to knock off a UNO squad that won the SLC Tournament last season.

Moore hoists a 66-10 SLC record in men's tennis and is 11-2 against New Orleans and 19-0 against Nicholls.

The next home match is Wednesday, April 12 when the men host UIW at 1 p.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
