CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi named
Jim Shaw the interim head coach of the men's basketball program, announced by vice president of intercollegiate athletics Adrian Rodriguez.
Shaw has served as an assistant coach for the Islanders the past two seasons where the team won back-to-back Southland Conference Tournaments and the 2022-23 regular season title. The program competed in the NCAA Tournament each season and picked up its first-ever NCAA Tournament win this past week in the First Four.
"I am very pleased to name
Jim Shaw as interim head basketball coach. Jim has been instrumental in our success over the last two years and is tremendously respected by all those connected with our program. Jim will continue the great level of excellence that we associate with Islanders basketball until a national search can be completed," Rodriguez said.
A San Antonio native, Shaw has spent the last 19 years at the Division I level with stops at Texas Tech, Nebraska, UTEP, Texas State and Tarleton State.
