CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) released its 2022-23 All-District Teams and senior
Terrion Murdix was tabbed to the First-Team, senior
Isaac Mushila the Second-Team and head coach
Steve Lutz the Coach of the Year.
The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I. A&M-Corpus Christi is in District 22 among all SLC and SWAC institutions.
Murdix, from Springfield, Illinois, was the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year and was honored on the All-Conference First-Team and All-Defensive Team. He led the league in assists, assist:turnover ratio and steals.
Mushila, a native of Lubumbashi, Congo, became a two-time All-Conference honoree after earning a spot on the First-Team. He nearly averaged a double-double with 14.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, including 15.4 points and 10.1 rebounds in conference.
Lutz, the SLC Coach of the Year, has won three championships in two years on The Island after back-to-back SLC Tournament titles and the 2022-23 regular season crown. He hoists a 46-22 record and was named a finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year award, presented to those who not only achieve success on the court but who display moral integrity off it as well.
The top-seeded Islanders will play tonight against Southeast Missouri State in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament at 5:40 p.m. (CT) in a nationally televised game on truTV.
