CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The first national rankings of the season were released this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis program was No. 79 and the women 81.
The men are 6-3 overall with wins over Southern Miss and DePaul. The women are a perfect 8-0 with victories against New Mexico State, UTEP and Sam Houston.
"These Islanders are working extremely hard and with great discipline and sacrifice. All these rankings and results are just a symptom of hard work and team unity. They have a great culture and have embraced a term we refer to as ADL – athletic, disciplined lifestyle. This team is really like a big family and they have so much fun together, encourage and support each other. They do that within the athletic, disciplined lifestyle and are showing up to practice every day with energy and focus. That's not talked about enough but that's honestly the taproot of improvement," said head coach
Steve Moore.
A&M-Corpus Christi has won five Southland Conference Player of the Week awards in five weeks. Seniors
Ulysse Bertrand,
Pascal Lorieul and
Nathan Schwartz have been distinguished on the men's side, and junior

As a team, the women are 38-3 (.927) in singles and the men are 29-11 (.725).
