FRISCO, Texas – Junior
Megan Guy and sophomore
Mai-Lisa Atis of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team were both honored with All-Academic accolades, announced by the Southland Conference on Thursday.
Guy was tabbed to the SLC All-Academic First Team while Atis was named to the Second Team. It is the second straight year that Guy earned First-Team honors for her academics.
"This is so well deserving for two great ladies who truly prioritize both academics and their soccer performances," said head coach
Craig Shaw. "I couldn't be happier for the two of them."
Guy led the Islanders with 29 shots on the season including 19 on goal. She scored three goals and dished out a team-high four assists. Academically, she maintains a perfect 4.0 cumulative GPA as a psychology major after three years at A&M-Corpus Christi.
Atis was the leading scorer for the Islanders with five goals to go along with an assist. She fired 25 shots on the season including 14 on goal. Atis started in 15 of 19 games and logged 1,174 minutes, which was the most among non-defenders on the squad. In the classroom, Atis has averaged a 3.77 GPA while working towards her degree in computer science as well as a minor in mathematics.
A&M-Corpus Christi finished the regular season in a three-way tie for fourth-place in the SLC standings. It was two spots better than last season when the program placed sixth.
