Men’s Basketball Adds Trio to 2024-25 Roster

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Announcing its first signees for 2023-24, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program signed Damarion Dennis, Isaac Williams and Sheldon Williams on Wednesday's National Signing Day.
 
Dennis is a 6-1 guard from San Antonio, Isaac Williams is a 6-2 guard from Oklahoma City and Sheldon Williams is a 6-8 forward from Atmore, Alabama.
 
Dennis is in his senior year at Veterans Memorial HS. He earned 26-5A All-District First-Team accolades last season and helped the team win a pair of District Championships. Dennis holds the school record for points in a season. He played club with Drive National and was honored as the 2022 All Breakout Player.
 
"Damarion is a San Antonio product that led his team to the State Tournament Semi-Finals this past March. We see Dennis having an extremely bright future in the Islanders Basketball program. He is a guard that has the quickness, athleticism and shooting ability that will make it extremely difficult for opponents to slow him down," said head coach Jim Shaw.

Isaac Williams is in his senior season at Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy. He's won a pair of State Championships in high school and received offers from West Virginia, Nebraska, Tulane, Mississippi State, Louisiana Tech, Sam Houston and Texas State.
 
"Isaac was a starter and integral part of a State Championship Team at Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy this part March. Isaac has great positional size, extreme first-step quickness and a good basketball IQ. He brings to The Island U the ability to create his own shot and score the ball. We look forward to coaching Isaac and seeing him an Islanders jersey next Fall," Shaw said.

Sheldon Williams is in his second season at Coastal Alabama CC. In his first two games this year, he scored 23 points against Reid State Tech and 31 points against University of Mobile. Last season, he averaged 16.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
 
"We are really excited that Sheldon is joining the Islanders Basketball Family. He is a tremendous person and really versatile basketball player that impacts the game on both ends of the floor. Sheldon can score in a multitude of ways and has the skill set to put points on the board for the Islanders next season," Shaw said.

The Islanders will be in action Saturday when they travel to No. 7 Houston for a 12:30 p.m. tip-off. A&M-Corpus Christi opened the season with a 111-46 victory over Southwestern Adventist on Tuesday.
