CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – In front of a sold out crowd at the Dugan Wellness Center, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program flew to a wire-to-wire 111-46 win over Southwestern Adventist for the largest margin of victory in school history on Tuesday.
The 65-point win broke the program's previous margin of victory record of 58 set on Nov. 21, 2005 in a 116-58 win over Texas A&M-International. The Islanders also tied the school record for most field goals made in a game with 46 first set on Jan. 18, 2001 against Cal Poly.
The game tipped off the
Jim Shaw era as head coach and also began the 25th season of basketball at The Island University. Shaw was named head coach in late March after spending the previous two seasons on staff as an assistant coach.
Every student-athlete on the roster scored for A&M-Corpus Christi, which built a 33-point halftime lead and never looked back. Junior

Roberts was one of four Islanders in double-figures as sophomore
Owen Dease registered 13 points and eight rebounds. Junior
Shilo Jackson came off the bench to score 11 points and junior
Garry Clark neared a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Graduate

Southwestern Adventist was led by Orlando Gooden's 17 points and Marcel Phifer pitched in with 12.
The Islanders opened the game on a 9-0 run which included a three by Roberts to get the season started. Still up 20-11 midway through, A&M-Corpus Christi broke it open with another 9-0 spurt which was capped by a second chance bucket by sophomore
Stephen Giwa to make it 29-11 with 8:18 left.
A jumper by Dease increased it to 40-18 with 3:44 to go. A&M-Corpus Christi ended the half with a last-second three by sophomore
Kam Parker to go up 56-23.
The Islanders kept their foot on the pedal in the second half and made it a 67-27 game at the 17:35 mark after a fast-break lay-up by Roberts. A field goal by senior
Dayne Prim extended it to 86-35 with 11:38 left.
A free throw by junior Teddy Washington Jr. upped it to 99-39 with 5:20 left. Junior
