CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Another shutout for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program resulted in a 2-0 victory over Nicholls on Sunday at Dugan Stadium.
It came after a 1-0 win over Southeastern on Friday.
The Islanders registered a pair of first half goals to oust the Colonels. They came from junior
Storm Harris on a header and senior
Molly Arens on a free kick.
"We took care of business. Some of these games can be tricky as Nicholls was out there trying to keep their chances alive for the conference tournament but we took care of business," said head coach
Craig Shaw. "I'm super excited for Storm on getting her first goal and she deserves it for her work rate. Molly, coming back from injury, got herself a goal and I'm really excited for the team and a clean sheet as well."
The goal by Harris came in the 31st minute after a no-look, over the head pass by Guy with her back turned to the goal connected with Harris who finished with a header into the right side. It was the first goal of the season for Harris and fourth assist for Guy.
A&M-Corpus Christi tacked on another in the 34th minute. From about five feet outside the penalty box on the right side, Arens bended a shot into the lower left corner of the net for her first score of the year. The Islanders have now had 11 different student-athletes register a goal this season.
Freshman
Aaliyah Ramadan fired a team-high four shots, and the Islanders outshot the Colonels 19-3 and held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks. Defensively, junior
