CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Becoming a two-time All-Conference selection, junior midfielder
Rachel Loetzer from the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program was named to the Southland All-Conference Second-Team, the league announced Tuesday.
Â
A two-time SLC Defensive Player of the Week winner this season, Loetzer made a significant impact on both ends of the field. Defensively, she helped the Islanders register five shutouts including three in conference.
Â
On the offensive side, the Frisco, Texas native tallied three goals, two assists, eight points and 12 shots. She scored in games against Sam Houston, Tarleton and Southeastern. Loetzer played 90 minutes against Texas A&M-Commerce where she dished out an assist.
Â
"This recognition shows how influential she has been in the games she's been able to play," said head coach
Craig Shaw. "Well deserved."
Â
The Islanders will be in action Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Northwestern State in the quarterfinals of the SLC Tournament at Dugan Stadium.
