NATCHITOCHES, La. – Without nine student-athletes due to injury, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program fell 2-0 at Northwestern State on Sunday at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.
The Islanders played their last of 11 road games of the regular season. The final two games are at home next weekend where A&M-Corpus Christi is 3-1-1.
The Islanders moved to 4-3-1 in conference play and have won three of their last four.
Northwestern State got on the board in the closing seconds of the first half and tallied another in the 61st minute. Goal scorers were Halee Griffin and Emily Senatore.
"I know the team will take this loss hard but I also know they will take it as another opportunity to learn and grow together as a team," said head coach
Craig Shaw.
A&M-Corpus Christi was credited with five shots including two apiece from junior
Megan Guy and freshman
Aaliyah Ramadan. Sophomore
Mai-Lisa Atis also fired a shot.
Freshman
Zoe Theriot made six saves in net. She was one of two Islanders to play the full 90 minutes along with junior defender
Emma Crump.
A&M-Corpus Christi will wrap-up the regular season with two home games next weekend beginning with a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday against first-place Lamar.
