CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Continuing to add more talent to its 2023-24 roster, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf program announced the signing of high school standout Samantha Gibbs on Tuesday.

Gibbs, from Fort Worth, Texas, will arrive on The Island after completing her prep career at Timber Creek HS. Gibbs was named a 2022 All-State selection by the Texas Association of Golf Coaches.

Sam is a very accomplished player that has competed all over the country. She is committed to be the best and it showed in her commitment to play against the best. Sam possesses solid fundamentals that will carry into collegiate golf. I can see Sam being an important part of the success of the of our program for the years to come," said head coach

Gibbs holds numerous school records at Timber Creek, including individual tournament wins with eight. She holds 10 out of 12 scoring records for 18 holes, and six out of 11 scoring records for 36 holes. Furthermore, she's a part of a team that holds 8 out of 11 school scoring records for 18 holes, and 6 out of 10 records for 36 holes.

Gibbs was a two-time All-District selection in 4-6A and a two-time All-Region honoree in 1-6A in 2021 and 2022. She finished 46th in the state and was a Medalist Qualifier in 2022.

Academically, Gibbs was a three-time Academic 4-6A All-District selection in 2020, 2021 and 2022. She'll be pursuing a degree in finance at A&M-Corpus Christi.

Gibbs becomes the second signee to the 2023-24 roster for the Islanders after Carla Puente Fernandez signed a National Letter of Intent in November.
