LUBBOCK, Texas –
Dennis Kipngeno kicked off his senior indoor track campaign with a victory for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's track and field program at the Texas Tech Open & Multis at the Sports Performance Center.

"It was an easy win for Dennis today in the 3,000m," said head coach Brent Ericksen.

Kipngeno was the best distance performer for the Islanders as numerous runners found success on day two of the four-day meet. Junior
Enock Kimutai earned a 10
th-place finish in the men's mile, putting down a mark of 4:21.50. Two other runners for A&M-Corpus Christi placed in the top-20 in graduate student
Juan Salinas III and sophomore
Gregorio Alcorta in 18
th and 20
th respectively. On the women's side of the mile, senior
Sharon Kiprop ran a mark of 5:18.72.

Sophomore
Tranasia Jones competed in the women's 200m dash in the second day of the event and ran a personal best mark of 25.56s to rise up to ninth all-time in program history. Five other women competed in the event with Jones on the second day. Graduate student
Sean Majors led the path for the men with a time of 22.45s.

 Junior
Riley Cowan competed in the 800m where she set down a time of 2:19.79 for 10th place to break her own personal best for ninth all-time in program history. Teammates
Yasmine Steele (junior) and
Cambria Clark (senior) both competed in the 800m and ran times of 2:25.61 and 2:29.84 respectively. Sophomore
Logan Rickey ran the event for the men and earned a time of 1:58.89.

 The men's 4x400m relay team comprised of freshman
Rene Renteria, junior
John Moreno, senior
Daniel Armstrong and Majors placed 14th with a time of 3:20.07. Two teams ran for the women and earned marks of 4:02.01 and 4:10.30.

A&M-Corpus Christi is scheduled to have a weekend off before returning to Texas Tech on the weekend of February 10-11.
