Jon Palumbo recently announced.

"
Steve Moore has built a tennis program here at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi that has set a very high standard for our athletics department, the Southland Conference, and tennis programs across the country," said Palumbo. "He has led Islanders tennis to tremendous achievements on the court and in the classroom, and his program is a source of pride for the Corpus Christi community. We are fortunate to have him leading our tennis program, and I look forward to working with Steve for years to come."
Â
Over the last two seasons, Moore has coached the Islanders to five SLC Championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Â
"Corpus Christi and Islanders Tennis have been a part of my heart and life for the past 19 years. These Islanders Tennis men and women have become like family to me far after college and the Islander culture is truly special. I consider it a great blessing to work for
Jon Palumbo and President (Dr. Kelly) Miller! Their support of athletics and tennis has been incredible, and everything a coach could ask for. We have the most wonderful donors of any team in the country and their support propels this team! So I'm honored to keep chopping wood, building character in these young men and women and continue teaching the values of family, character, accountability, team above self and grit. I still wake up every morning excited to see these high character young men and women, and I'm proud of the values Islanders Tennis stands for," Moore said.
Â
Moore has racked up 565 career victories as an NCAA Division I head coach. He carries a 103-37 SLC record on the women's side in his career and 70-7 on the men's. Additionally, he's 19-8 in the conference tournament with the women and 22-5 with the men.
Â
Moore has a winning record against every SLC opponent in the league on both the women's and men's side except for the Northwestern State women where he's 11-11 (previously led by associate head coach
Olga Bazhanova). Furthermore, Moore is 24-1 against UTRGV for the women and 23-3 against the men in the South Texas Showdown.
Â
Notable career wins at A&M-Corpus Christi include victories over TCU, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Nebraska, Purdue, Indiana, BYU, New Mexico, Tulane, Houston and SMU.
