Noe Ruiz Jr. Hired as Baseball Volunteer Coach

Noe Ruiz Jr. Brought On As Volunteer Coach for Islanders Baseball

September 01, 2022

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball announced Thursday morning the hiring of Noe Ruiz Jr. to be the next volunteer coach for the Islanders.

"Noe has been with Matt Parker for eight to ten years and Parker said he would be a great addition," said head coach Scott Malone. "Ruiz is outstanding and is probably over-certified for the job we're asking him to do. He's already been active in recruiting and building a roster. I want him to work with our hitters and catchers and get them all the repetitions they need."

Ruiz spend the last four seasons with Eastern Oklahoma State as an assistant coach under Parker, who was announced as the next assistant coach last week. While with the Mountaineers, Ruiz helped the team to a 142-39 record and two NJCAA Region II Regular Season and Tournament Championships in 2021 and 2022. Alongside Parker, Ruiz had one player drafted in the MLB Draft in the seventh round and has seen numerous other athletes succeed under him.

"My wife and I are excited to join the Islander family," said Ruiz. "We can't thank Coach Malone enough for giving us a chance to be back home in south Texas. I think the expectation is to win. Parker and I left a place that was winning championships and expect to do the same here."

Ruiz followed Parker from Oklahoma Wesleyan where he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. The team won the NAIA World Series in 2014 and 2017 along with the Opening Round Regional Championship in both years.

His time at Oklahoma Wesleyan helped the program oversee 68 All-Conference Performers, 19 Conference Gold Gloves as well as two Conference Freshman of the Year and one Conference Newcomer of the Year accolades.

Ruiz earned his bachelor's degree in fitness and sports at Texas A&M International before obtaining his master's in business administration from Oklahoma Wesleyan.

A native of San Antonio, he now resides in Corpus Christi with his wife Rebecca.
