EDINBURG, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer edged out the UTRGV Vaqueros in a 4-3 victory on the road at UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Stadium. The seven combined goals was the most ever in an Islanders victory.
"It was a crazy game out there and I think we have yet to play to our full potential," said head coach
Craig Shaw. "As assistant coach
Hunter Nail said, good teams can go out and play ugly."
Junior
Maggie Murray led the team in goals scored with two on the night coming off of two shots on goal. Her goals were the first and third of the night for the Islanders en route to the victory.
Reese Cross, also a junior, scored the second goal of the night with the final coming from newcomer
Rachel Loetzer, a sophomore on the team. It marked the first goal Loetzer has scored as an Islander.
Molly Arens, another junior on the team, connected with Murray for both of her assists on the night. Junior
Emma Herrera assisted Cross on her goal with sophomore
Morgan Westbury connecting with Loetzer to score the game-winning goal.
