CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Coming off a championship season and NCAA Tournament appearance, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program released its 2022-23 schedule Thursday.
The schedule includes 15 home games and marquee road matchups at Mississippi State, Arizona, Oklahoma State and a three-game tournament at UTEP.
The Islanders will host UTSA on Friday, Nov. 11 in the Dugan Wellness Center as their home opener. A&M-Corpus Christi will also face UTRGV twice in the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union on Nov. 17 at home and Nov. 30 on the road.
"We've put together a very competitive schedule this year that'll really challenge our team before we get into conference play. We'll play road games at schools in the SEC, Big 12 and a top-10 opponent in Arizona which will be great tests for us. The conference schedule will also be tougher this year with more teams and the additions of Texas A&M-Commerce and Lamar, and we look forward to getting underway," said head coach
Steve Lutz.
The Southland Conference schedule will feature a double round robin format where all 10 teams play each other twice for an 18-game slate. The SLC opener is Saturday, Dec. 31 when A&M-Corpus Christi heads to Northwestern State.
The SLC Championship is March 5-8 where the Islanders will look to defend their tournament title in Lake Charles, Louisiana, hosted by McNeese State University.
