SAN ANTONIO – With a chance to earn a share of the SLC regular season championship, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis program will conclude the regular season Tuesday against UIW at the Mabry Tennis Center.
A&M-Corpus Christi (13-9, 1-1 SLC) is one match behind UIW (12-6, 2-0 SLC) in the conference standings. With a win, the Islanders would clinch a three-way tie for the title with New Orleans.
The Islanders fell to New Orleans 4-3, but New Orleans lost to UIW 5-2. A&M-Corpus Christi can secure the No. 1 seed with a 5-2 win or better against UIW based on overall match points among the three-way tie.
The men will be playing for their 12th regular season title and 21st conference championship. The Islanders won both the regular season and conference tournament last season.
The Islanders are coming off a 7-0 sweep over Nicholls on Senior Day. It was highlighted by a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 win by senior
Kyohei Yamanaka to cap the day.
UIW enters play on a five-match winning-streak including 5-2 wins over both Nicholls and New Orleans. The Cardinals are 9-0 at home this season.
A&M-Corpus Christi is 8-1 all-time against UIW and has won the last four in a row.
