HAMMOND, La. – The first road matches of the conference season are on tap for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program when it heads to Southeastern at 1 p.m. Friday and Northwestern State at 11 a.m. Sunday.
A&M-Corpus Christi (15-2, 1-0 SLC) is ranked No. 82 in the nation in the ITA rankings published Wednesday. It marked the fifth straight year the program is top-90 and third time it is top-75. The program has been as high as No. 60.
The Islanders are riding an eight-match winning-streak. It includes wins over UTRGV, UTSA, Lamar, Sam Houston, UIW and NJIT. As a team, they are 70-18 in singles and 36-9 in doubles.
Sophomore
Leopoldine Boisseau leads the team in wins with a 14-2 record, primarily at the No. 5 position. Sophomore
Kateryna Rublevska is unbeaten 7-0, having split time at No. 6 with sophomore
Victoire Delattre who is 8-2.
Also in double-figures in wins are sophomore
Emma Honore at 11-4 and junior
Camille Townsend at 10-3. Sophomore
Emma Aucagne is 8-3 at court one.
SLU will look to get its season turned around after starting 1-12 with a win over Southern. NWST on the other hand is 9-4 overall and already 2-0 in conference with road wins over SLU 6-1 and New Orleans 4-3.
The Islanders are 13-1 all-time against SLU and have won 13 in a row. A&M-Corpus Christi is 10-11 against NWST but has won the last three and will look to even the all-time series.
