SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis program will be on the road Wednesday when it travels to UTSA for a 1 p.m. match at the UTSA Tennis Center.
It's the final non-conference match for A&M-Corpus Christi (12-7) before hitting the home stretch with conference bouts.
The Islanders are coming off back-to-back wins over Lamar 4-2 and NJIT 6-1. Over those two matches, sophomores
Guillermo Castaneda and
Borja Delgado were 4-0 as they both won two singles and two doubles matches.
A&M-Corpus Christi is 61-38 as a team this season in singles. Castaneda has won a team-high 11 matches, while Delgado is 10-2 and sophomore
Nathan Schwartz is 10-3.
UTSA is 8-7 overall, but five of its losses have come against ranked opponents. The Roadrunners were runner-ups at A&M-Corpus Christi's H-E-B Tournament of Champions with wins over New Mexico State and Troy.
The Islanders are 14-7 all-time against the Roadrunners.
A&M-Corpus Christi will return home Friday, April 1 when it hosts New Orleans at 11 a.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
