CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – With a dominant fourth quarter, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball program capped an undefeated 14-0 home season after downing Nicholls 68-53 on Wednesday on Senior Night at the American Bank Center.

Additionally, head coach Royce Chadwick tied the Southland Conference record for career wins with 210.

A&M-Corpus Christi (18-9, 10-3 SLC) outscored the opposition 960-703 at home this season. The Islanders topped their previous best home season of 13-1 in 2019-20 and currently have the seventh-longest active home winning-streak in the nation.

The Islanders were up 48-47 on Nicholls (4-20, 2-11 SLC) after three quarters and then scored the first 16 points of the fourth to pull away.

A&M-Corpus Christi outrebounded the Colonels 42-26, which led to an 18-0 advantage in second chance points. The Islanders also controlled the paint where they outscored Nicholls 48-24.

A big performance came from junior Alecia Westbrook with 22 points and 13 rebounds. She was 9-of-12 from the field and five of her rebounds were on the offensive end.

Senior Makinna Serrata registered 14 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Nabaweeyah McGill tallied 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Colonels were led by Chyna Allen's 19 points.

Nicholls came out hitting shots in the first quarter and scored 20 points. The Colonels led by as many as 16-8 at the 3:19 mark.  The Islanders ended the quarter with buckets from senior Diamond Wraggs, sophomore Mireia Aguado and sophomore Paige Allen to trim it to 20-17.

The Islanders came back to take a 28-26 lead with 6:12 left in the second on a pair of free throws by McGill. After Nicholls evened it 30-30, A&M-Corpus Christi scored five points in the final minute after three points by Aguado and a lay-up by Allen to take a 35-30 edge into the locker room.

After the Colonels scored the first basket of the third, the Islanders went on a 10-0 run to leap ahead 45-32 after a jumper by Serrata with 6:33 remaining. Though, the Colonels didn't go away and ended the quarter on a 15-3 spurt to cut it to 48-47 heading to the fourth.

A&M-Corpus Christi controlled the fourth quarter from the start. It started with a lay-up by Westbrook, and a pair of buckets inside by Wraggs extended it to 7:56. The Islanders continued to make it a 16-0 run as another lay-in by Westbrook made it 64-47 to put it out of reach with 4:01 to go.

The Islanders will conclude the regular season on Saturday at 2 p.m. at UIW. A&M-Corpus Christi has already beaten the Cardinals three times this year, which included a pair of non-conference games after the SLC Preseason Tournament was canceled on the women's side.
