Live Stats

FORT WORTH, Texas –
Having won five of its last six matches, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball program will compete in the Fight in the Fort, hosted by No. 3 TCU.

The two-day event begins Friday when the Islanders (9-4) square off with Arizona State at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 5:30 p.m. match against Stephen F. Austin. On Saturday, A&M-Corpus Christi will wake up early for a 7:30 a.m. match against New Orleans before taking on third-ranked TCU at 11:30 a.m.

When the Islanders play the Privateers (8-4), they will be putting a 15-match winning-streak on the line in regular season matches against SLC opponents. A&M-Corpus Christi has already beaten the Privateers twice this year 4-1 and 4-1, and hold an 8-3 advantage in the all-time series.

Junior Giuliana Poletti Corrales and sophomore Brooke Pertuit are the two-time reigning SLC Pair of the Week winners. They've won eight matches in a row and are 11-2 on the year at court one.

Another tough team to beat has been grad student Micaela Mirabal and senior Aurora Carnes. They are 10-3 on the season with recent wins over Tulane and Southern Miss.

Arizona State (7-5) is the first time receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll. It has wins this year over No. 13 Arizona, Washington, Boise State and Santa Clara.

SFA (7-6) has recent victories over UL-Monroe and Nicholls. The Islanders are 4-0 all-time against the Ladyjacks.

TCU is a perfect 15-0. More than half its wins are against ranked opponents including No. 3 Florida State, No. 8 Cal Poly, No. 9 Hawaii, No. 10 California twice, No. 12 Florida Atlantic, No. 16 Stetson, No. 18 South Carolina and No. 19 Georgia State.

A&M-Corpus Christi will be going for its first-ever win over a ranked opponent. The Islanders are 9-2 against unranked teams this year.
