Women’s Tennis Looks to Extend Long Winning-Streaks in SLC Opener Saturday against UIW

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Some of the nations longest home streaks will be at stake Saturday when the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program hosts UIW in the Southland Conference opener at 2 p.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi (13-2) enters play on a six-match winning-streak overall. The Islanders have won 19 consecutive home matches and have not lost a conference home match since 2014-15.
 
The Islanders, who are the reigning SLC Tournament champions and represented the league at the NCAA Tournament last season, brought back their entire lineup.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi is coming off an unbeaten road trip with wins over UTSA 4-0, Lamar 4-0 and Sam Houston 4-2. In its most recent win over the Bearkats, junior Camille Townsend posted a 2-0 day in singles and doubles.
 
As a team, the Islanders are 59-17 in singles and 32-7 in doubles. Sophomore Leopoldine Boisseau has won a team-high 23 matches including 12-2 in singles and 10-1 in doubles. She's on a six-match winning-streak in singles.
 
UIW (5-5) is paced by Brandelyn Fulgenzi who is 6-3 at No. 1 singles. The Cardinals most notable win this year was against Montana State on Jan. 21.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi is a perfect 8-0 all-time against UIW, winning at least five courts in every contest.
