ELMWOOD, La. – Coming off a home-opening sweep, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball program will compete in the Tulane Classic at the White Sands Volleyball Courts beginning Friday at 10:45 a.m. against New Orleans.

A&M-Corpus Christi's (6-3) match against UNO (6-2) will be the first of four on the weekend. The Islanders will play Tulane (6-2) at 1 p.m. Friday, UAB (4-5) at 8:30 a.m. Saturday ant Nicholls (0-7) at 10:45 a.m. Saturday.

The Islanders have won 14 consecutive regular season matches against SLC opponents dating back to 2019. They beat UNO 4-1 earlier this year, but since then the Privateers have won five in a row.

A&M-Corpus Christi swept Mary Hardin-Baylor at home 5-0 on Wednesday and did not drop a set. At court one, the reigning SLC Pair of the Week winners
Brooke Pertuit and
Giuliana Poletti Corrales registered a 21-9, 21-8 victory and duo improved to 7-2 together.

Also with a 7-2 record is the pair of grad student
Micaela Mirabal and senior
Aurora Carnes. They beat UMHB 21-5, 21-12.

The match against UAB will be a rematch after the Blazers squeaked out a 3-2 decision at the Tiger Beach Invitational at LSU. Pertuit & Poletti Corrales win 21-17, 21-17 on court one, and Mirabal & Carnes won 21-18, 21-13 on court four.

It will be the first meetings this year against Tulane and Nicholls.
