CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The inaugural Southland Conference Player of the Week award of 2022-23 went to senior
Isaac Mushila from the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program, the league office announced Monday.
Isaac Mushila erupted with 22 points and 16 rebounds to guide the Islanders to a 75-55 victory over UTSA. On the week, he averaged 15.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game which included a season opening game at Mississippi State.
Mushila shot .625 from the floor over the two games and also tallied a pair of blocks. He was one rebound shy of a career-high against UTSA.
It marked the third SLC Player of the Week award for Mushila in his career after he won twice last season.
Mushila and the Islanders will be in action tonight when they host Trinity (TX) at 7 p.m. at the American Bank Center. The team will have a ring ceremony and a banner reveal prior to the game in honor of the 2021-22 Southland Conference Tournament championship.
