THIBODAUX, Louisiana – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's women's soccer team defeated Nicholls at the Nicholls Soccer Complex 4-0 in their second shutout in the 2022 campaign, completing the season sweep of the Colonels.

Craig Shaw talked about the best part in the performance, crediting "the focus we came out with and desire to rectify Friday's unlucky result."

Sophomore
Rachel Loetzer led the attack for the Islanders, scoring at the 28:28 mark to earn a 1-0 advantage after connecting with senior
Emma Gibbs who was credited with the assist. Shortly after with 32:14 on the clock,
Mai-Lisa Atis, a freshman, placed the ball in the net to extend the lead 2-0.

The third goal of the day came off the foot of sophomore
Megan Guy at the 36:35 mark. Atis passed the ball to Guy, giving her the opportunity to score the goal for the 3-0 lead. Loetzer earned the fourth and final goal of the game for A&M-Corpus Christi with an unassisted goal at the 84:48 timestamp. It marked her first multi-goal game while with the Islanders.
Shaw spoke highly about Loetzer, saying, "to have a defensive player that has such a desire to score is a huge asset."

The team outshot the Colonels 28-4 in the victory with 17 of the shots on target and four going into the goal. They combined for seven corner kicks in the effort and were credited with two assists.

Senior
Kennedy Stelling spent all 90 minutes in the net for the Islanders in their second shutout of the season. Stelling earned two saves on four shots faced.

A&M-Corpus Christi will return to action at home against Northwestern State on Friday at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer & Track Stadium at 7:00 p.m. for the pink-out game.
