CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas
– The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball program will play two more non-conference games against a Southland Conference opponent beginning Sunday when it hosts UIW at 2 p.m. in the Dugan Wellness Center.

The two teams will play again Tuesday at 6 p.m. when UIW hosts.

A&M-Corpus Christi (6-6) defeated HBU 61-56 in a non-conference game on Wednesday. The schedule additions of HBU and UIW came after the SLC Preseason Tipoff was canceled on the women's side.

The Islanders will put their undefeated home mark on the line. They are 6-0 this year at home, 207-144 all-time at home and 53-28 in the Dugan Wellness Center. The Islanders have outscored the opposition 462-297 at home this season.

Junior Alecia Westbrook averages a double-double of 12.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. She ranks 13th in the nation in rebounding and 16th in offensive rebounding. Westbrook has five double-doubles on the year, has recorded nine consecutive double-figure scoring games and has grabbed at least eight rebounds in every contest this season.

Also averaging in double-figures is senior Makinna Serrata with 12.3 points per game. She's top-five in the SLC in field goal percentage with a .467 clip. Serrata poured in a career-high 28 points to lead the team to an 81-61 victory over Pacific. It was her second 20-plus scoring game of the season along with a game vs. UTRGV at home.

Sophomore Violeta Verano ranks first in the conference in assists (4.2 apg). She has dished out at least a pair of assists in every game this year and distributed a career-high seven at Rice.

Sophomore Nabaweeyah McGill is coming off a career-high 18 points in the win over HBU and was 8-of-9 from the floor. McGill has also been a big contributor defensively and ranks second in blocks per game with 1.4. She rejected a career-high six against Schreiner.

UIW (4-5) will play its first game since Dec. 22 after a cancelation against Texas Tech, followed by the SLC Preseason Tipoff being called off. The Cardinals are going for their first road of the season but have a non-conference home victory over Western Illinois 63-59 on Nov. 29.

UIW has the league's leading scorer in Jaaucklyn Moore who averages 18.1 points per game. She's scored at least 10 points in every game and netted 30 vs. UTRGV on Dec. 11.

The home game can be watched live for free on the Islanders Digital Network with Doug Kesterson on the call.
