PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – In a game that could have gone either way, Prairie View A&M scored the only goal in a 1-0 decision against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program on Friday at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.

The Panthers (2-1-1), who were coming off a 1-0 win over Northwestern State, scored on a right-footer by D'Sanye Nugent from just outside the box into the top left corner in the 64th minute.

"We got taught a valuable lesson tonight. At this level, if another team wants it more it doesn't matter how much better skilled you are," said head coach
Craig Shaw.

The A&M-Corpus Christi (1-3) offense was led by junior
Samantha Palomino who fired three shots and played 90 minutes. Also with shots in the game were senior
Reaghan Lang, sophomore
Reese Cross and freshman
Morgan Westbury.

Emma Herrera and freshman
Emma Crump logged 90 minutes.

Kennedy Stelling kept the Islanders alive by making 10 saves in net.

The Islanders are now 3-1 all-time against the Panthers and have outscored them 5-1.

A&M-Corpus Christi will close out the weekend Sunday when it hosts UTRGV at 7 p.m. at Dugan Stadium. The game is part of the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.
