Islanders Release 2021-22 Women’s Basketball Schedule

August 31, 2021

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – With 13 home games on tap, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball program released its 2021-22 slate Tuesday, announced by head coach Royce Chadwick.

The Islanders will host five non-conference games and will travel for marquee road games at Texas A&M, Houston and a pair at the Denver Classic, including one against Tulane.

"This is the most ambitious schedule we have had since the preseason WNIT year. With the majority of our team being freshmen and sophomores, we have our hands full attacking these tough games. I believe, although it's challenging, it will prepare us for Southland Conference play and that's the goal," Chadwick said. "When you open the year on the road in College Station at Texas A&M it enhances your early workout focus. Our youngsters will be challenged, and it should be great for our growth and development."

The season begins Tuesday, Nov. 9 with a trip to Texas A&M. The first home game is Sunday, Nov. 14 when A&M-Corpus Christi hosts UTRGV at the Dugan Wellness Center in the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.

The Islanders will play their first-ever game against Pacific from the West Coast Conference. The game will be played at the Dugan Wellness Center on Monday, Nov. 22.

Upon conclusion of non-conference play, the Islanders will play in the unique Southland Conference Classic, which pits all eight teams in a preseason tournament on Jan. 3-5 in Katy, Texas.

Conference play begins Saturday, Jan. 15 with a double round robin SLC format. The SLC Tournament will be held March 9-12 at the Leonard E. Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.

The Islanders return four starters and nine letterwinners from a very young squad last year, which finished 3-2 in their last five games.
