CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – In its first appearance at Dugan Stadium this season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer program will play a friendly against Texas A&M-International at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Â
It will be A&M-Corpus Christi's final tune-up before the regular season opener Sunday when the Islanders host Texas Southern at 1 p.m.
Â
"We are very excited for these next two games. We will use the home crowd advantage to settle our nerves to play our way confidently," said head coach
Craig Shaw.
Â
Both games will be live streamed for free on the
Islanders Digital Network with
Steven King on the call.
Â
The Islanders are training 11 freshmen who are gaining experience in their first Division I games. In an exhibition last week, freshmen
Morgan Westbury and
Megan Guy tallied shots against Baylor.
Â
A&M-Corpus Christi played TAMIU last year on the road in one of the chilliest games in recent memory. The Islanders walked away with a 4-0 shutout win, which included two goals by sophomore
Olivia Alvarez and one by sophomore
Maggie Murray.
Â
The Dustdevils were 2-2-1 in the Lone Star Conference this past spring in a shortened COVID-19 season.
