More Talent Added to Men’s Basketball Roster with Addition of Jordan Roberts

May 26, 2021

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Coming in as a true freshman, Jordan Roberts was the latest addition to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program, announced by Head Coach Steve Lutz.

Roberts is a 6-4 guard from Grand Prairie, Texas. He spent the last four years at South Grand Prairie HS where he was the 2021 District MVP. Roberts was also an All-State First-Team, All-District First-Team and Dallas Morning News First-Team honoree.

Roberts averaged 23.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. He shot .815 from the free throw line and .373 from three-point range. Roberts scored 42 points on 16-for-27 shooting in an 82-66 win over rival Grand Prairie.

Roberts led South Grand Prairie to the 2021 District title after a 21-1 overall record and 12-0 in conference. He guided the team to a No. 4 ranking in the state of Texas, and No. 18 nationally.

"Jordan is a natural scorer who was named the District MVP and Offensive Player of the Year in a very tough District 7-6A (Dallas Metroplex). In addition to those accolades, he amassed over 1,000 points during his high school career. He comes from a great family and is a very hard worker," Lutz said. "We couldn't be more excited to welcome him to the Islander Family."

Roberts becomes the first freshman signee on the Islanders 2021-22 roster and sixth overall. He'll be pursuing a degree in history.
