HAMMOND, La. – Senior
Larissa Fagundes scored a late tally to highlight the performance of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program in a 3-1 defeat to Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at Strawberry Stadium.

The Islanders (4-8-3, 3-5-2 SLC) were trailing 3-0 when Fagundes found the lower right corner of the net in the 83rd minute. It was her third goal of the season.

The game was tied 0-0 at half when SLU (5-2-3, 5-2-3 SLC) scored goals in the 50th, 56th and 68th minute, respectively to create separation.

A&M-Corpus Christi registered eight shots in the game. Senior
Abby Deakin fired three, Fagundes two and freshman
Reese Cross, sophomore
Emma Gibbs and freshman
Maggie Murray each with one.

Kyleigh Hall made five saves in net.

"It's just one of those seasons where every mistake we make gets punished. We will learn from it and be ready for next Friday," said head coach
Craig Shaw.

The Lady Lions avenged a 2-0 defeat in the last meeting between the two teams in Corpus Christi in 2019.

The Islanders still control their own destiny for the Southland Conference Championships. They would clinch a spot with a win over Houston Baptist at 7 p.m. Friday at Dugan Stadium. It will be the regular season finale and Senior Day.
