CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball aims to pick up its third-straight Southland series against Houston Baptist in a four-game home set at Chapman Field.
The series begins Friday, April 23 at 6 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon and a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.

- Brendan Ryan smacked his first home run of the season in the first to hand the Islanders an early 2-0 lead, but UTRGV stormed back with 10 runs over the opening three-frame stretch to cruise to a 14-4 final.
- The Islanders aim to continue their league streak after claiming their second-straight Southland series with a four-game sweep of Central Arkansas, extending the win streak to seven of their last eight conference matchups.
- After claiming back-to-back league series, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi moved up to eighth in the conference standings with a 9-10 Southland record after winning seven of their last eight league matchups.

- Senior Mike Williams paced the Islanders with a six-hit weekend against UCA, none bigger than the three-run walk off bomb delivered in the bottom of the 12th to hand the home club the 7-4 extra inning thriller. He carries a six-game hitting and 12-game reached base streaks into the midweek contest.
- Luke Marbach stands in an eight-way tie for seventh in the Southland in doubles with nine while Josh Caraway is in a four-way deadlock at second with three triples.
- Senior trio Itchy Burts (15), Luke Marbach (13) and Mike Williams (12) carry 10+ reached-base stretches while Williams and Brendan Ryan each have six-game hitting streaks on the line going into the weekend series.
- Hayden Thomas sits among the Southland leaderboards, ranking second in strike outs looking (20) and fourth in overall strikeouts (59). His 3.18 ERA is eighth-best in the league.
- Strong weekend performances in back-to-back series wins ties Williams for eighth in the league in homers (5) and 10th in RBIs (29), with both totals also leading the Islander squad.
- A&M-Corpus Christi head coach Scott Malone is in his 14th season at the helm of the Islanders and boasts a career record of 334-383-2 and 175-206-2 in Southland play.
Scouting the Opponent
- The Huskies carry a 9-25 overall and 6-14 conference mark into the weekend series looking for their first Southland series win.
- Brennan Bales paces HBU batting at a .333 clip with five doubles and two triples while Jake Miller leads the squad in hits (40) and runs (18).
- Todd Jackson's pinch-hit single brought home the winning tally as HBU walked off Northwestern State by a 7-6 margin to claim the first game in an eventual series split between the two clubs.
