BEAUMONT, Texas – The Southland Conference released the 2021 women's tennis tournament bracket, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi solidified the No. 4 seed and will face fifth-seeded Northwestern State at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 23 at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center.
The women's tennis team will be playing for its eighth championship and fourth NCAA Tournament appearance.
In the regular season meeting between the Islanders (19-3, 9-2 SLC) and the Lady Demons (6-7, 6-5 SLC), A&M-Corpus Christi walked away with a clean sweep 7-0. The Islanders won the doubles point, and five of their six singles victories came in straight sets.
With a win, A&M-Corpus Christi would play in the semifinals at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24 against the winner of No. 1 Sam Houston and No. 8 Stephen F. Austin. The championship match is slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 25.
