CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program fell behind early and couldn't garner enough timely hits to catch Stephen F. Austin in a 7-2 decision Saturday at Chapman Field.

The Ladyjacks (24-8, 15-0 SLC) plated four runs in the first inning to go up 4-0 and pulled away from A&M-Corpus Christi (15-22, 6-9 SLC) with three more runs late.

Sydney Hoyt each tallied multi-hit games. Thomas was two-for-three with a run, while Hoyt was two-for-four with a run. It was Thomas' seventh multi-hit game of the year and Hoyt's third.

The Islanders registered two runs in the third inning. After two-out singles by Hoyt and Thomas, sophomore
Pal Egan delivered a double to deep center field to bring home both runs and cut the deficit to 4-2.

Beatriz Lara threw her ninth complete-game of the year in the circle.

The Islanders will continue their seven-game home stand with a mid-week game Wednesday against UTSA at 3 p.m.
