HOUSTON –
In its final game of 2020-21, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program will close it out Saturday on the road against Houston Baptist at 5 p.m. at Sharp Gym.

It will be the only meeting this year between the Islanders (4-19, 1-13 SLC) and the Huskies (5-17, 4-10 SLC) since the game in Corpus Christi on Feb. 15 was canceled due to extreme weather conditions.

A&M-Corpus Christi has used a balanced scoring attack as seven different student-athletes average at least 7.4 points per game.  Sophomore Jalen White leads the team with 11.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game on the season. He's recorded at least 15 points in four of the last five games.

Senior Nolan Bertain ranks second in the Southland Conference in three-point percentage (.419). He's made at least three long-range shots in eight games this year.

Junior De'Lazarus Keys is the team's leading rebounder with 6.7 per game. Keys, who missed the entire non-conference slate due to injury, is second on the team in scoring with 9.0 points per outing.

A&M-Corpus Christi's SLC win this year came against Lamar 77-68 at home on Feb. 20. The Islanders built a 21-point second half advantage and held off a late comeback attempt. White scored a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds, while Keys registered 15 points and eight rebounds. A&M-Corpus Christi shot .421 (8-19) from three-point range and held the Cardinals to a .176 (3-17) clip.

The Huskies are fighting for a berth to the SLC Championships and are currently in 11th-place in the standings with the top-10 teams qualifying. HBU helped its cause Wednesday with a 72-67 win over Incarnate Word at home.

Pedro Castro is the top three-point shooter in the league with a .465 (50-86) average. He leads the team with 14 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Za-Ontay Boothman also averages in double-figures with 10.8 points per outing.

Saturday's game is part of a men's and women's doubleheader and both games can be heard live on NewsTalk K-E-Y-S 1440 AM/98.7 FM.
