Islander Notes
  • Home runs have highlighted the Islanders' spring, as A&M-Corpus Christi paces the Southland contingent with 13 and averaging 0.72 per game while Josh Caraway leads the blue and green with three homers.
  • On the mound, Hayden Thomas' 41 strikeouts is second-best in the Southland while also earning him a No. 20 national ranking. His 12.30 average per nine innings lands him a fifth-place spot in the league.

  • Burts leads the Islanders with 20 hits and seven multi-hit games this season, tying fellow super seniors Williams and Marbach for multi-RBI games with three apiece.
  • After a stellar showing at the Shriners College Classic, senior Mike Williams was tabbed to the All-Tournament team after he batted .375 over the three-game tournament and tallied a hit in all three contests including a monster two-RBI home run in the Saturday showing against Rice that afforded the Islanders an early 2-0 advantage.
  • Behind a noteworthy pitching performance from Hayden Thomas that saw him strike out 11 in 6.2 innings, the Islanders limited No. 10 Texas Tech to one run through six and took them down to the wire in a 4-3 final. Thomas has sat down 23 batters in his last two starts.
  • In their first series of 2021, A&M-Corpus Christi's pitching contingent held the Chippewas to 23 scoreless frames over the three-game set, led by starter Henry Bird's 5.0 innings of hitless and scoreless ball that saw him fan four batters in a 5-1 rout in the mound victory.
