HOUSTON – A challenging week is on tap for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis program when it travels to Rice for a 12 p.m. match Tuesday and UTSA for a 2 p.m. bout Thursday.

The Islanders (12-2) are coming off a 7-0 sweep over UTRGV in their last outing on March 10. A&M-Corpus Christi won both meetings in the South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.

The Islanders are 60-12 (.833) in singles and 31-7 (.816) in doubles this season. Individually, freshman
Pascal Lorieul is undefeated in singles with an 8-0 record at the No. 3 and 4 positions.

"We're really proud of these guys. They have worked so hard and are improving so much. They really committed to that  ADL: athletic, disciplined lifestyle and are showing up with energy every day to improve! These guys are incredibly close knit and have tremendous team unity, and it's just great to travel with them because they're like a group of brothers that fight hard for each other. We've really never had to talk about effort and attitude much at all. So this will be a fun upcoming week to watch them compete against two nationally ranked programs. We're bery excited to battle together as a unified family," said head coach
Steve Moore.
Rice (6-6) will be playing its third SLC opponent this year after defeating Lamar 6-1 and Abilene Christian 4-0. The Owls are coming off a 4-0 win over Trinity on Saturday.

A&M-Corpus Christi will be going for its first-ever win against Rice. It will be the 13th meeting all-time between the two programs.

UTSA (7-5) came to Corpus Christi earlier this year for the H-E-B Tournament, but did not play the Islanders. They beat UTRGV 7-0 and New Mexico State 6-1. The Roadrunners also have wins over No. 40 Tulsa, Abilene Christian, UL-Lafayette, UT Arlington and Rice.

A&M-Corpus Christi is 14-6 all-time against UTSA including a 5-2 mark on the road. The two used to be Southland Conference rivals before the Roadrunners left for Conference USA.
