NATCHITOCHES, La. – In its first Southland Conference match of 2021, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis program will travel to Northwestern State for an 11 a.m. match Sunday at the Jack Fisher Lady Demon Complex.

A&M-Corpus Christi was scheduled to play Central Arkansas on Friday but the match was postponed. A make-up date has not yet been set.

The Islanders posted a 10-1 record in non-conference matches and are coming off back-to-back wins over UTRGV in the South Texas Showdown. The team is a combined 52-5 in singles and 26-3 in doubles.

Sophomore
Mariya Shumeika is a perfect 10-0 in singles at the No. 2 position. She's one of two starters that are still undefeated along with freshman Victorie Delattre who is 8-0 playing at the No. 4 and 6 spots.

In doubles, the team of Shumeika and fellow sophomore
Camille Townsend are 10-1 at the number 1 spot. Most recently, they cruised to a 6-2 win over UTRGV on Wednesday.

NSU only played one non-conference match due to postponements and beat LSU-Alexandria 7-0. The Lady Demons opened SLC play on Friday and dropped a 4-3 battle to Lamar, which included a 7-6 (8-6) tiebreaker in the third set of the deciding match.
