CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Coming off a 77-68 victory over Lamar, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program will carry momentum into Monday's 6:30 p.m. game against Southeastern Louisiana at the American Bank Center.
The Islanders (4-15, 1-9 SLC) used an all-around team effort and shot 8-of-19 (.421) from three-point range to beat Lamar. Sophomore
Jalen White shined with a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds. Junior
De'Lazarus Keys also excelled with 15 points and eight rebounds.
The Islanders have used a balanced scoring attack this year as seven different student-athletes average at least 7.9 points per game. White leads the way with 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per outing. He has a pair of double-doubles on the year.
In conference games, A&M-Corpus Christi has been led by senior
Myles Smith's 12.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
Keys is the team's leading rebounder with 6.3 per game. Keys, who missed the entire non-conference slate due to injury, is coming off back-to-back 15-point performances.
Senior
Perry Francois ranks third in the SLC in blocks with 1.2 per game. He averages 8.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game and is shooting a team-high .600 from the field, including .545 in conference.
Senior
Nolan Bertain ranks second in the Southland Conference in three-point percentage (.427). He's made at least three long-range shots in eight games this year, including a 3-for-4 outing against Lamar on Saturday.
A&M-Corpus Christi and SLU (6-13, 4-6 SLC) will meet for the second time this year. The Islanders will look to avenge a 76-63 defeat in the first meeting this year in the conference opener where Bertain poured in 20 points and was 5-of-11 from three-point range on the road.
The Islanders will look to slow down one of the league's top scorers Keon Clergeot who averages 15.8 points per game. He netted a game-high 26 points per game and was 14-of-15 from the free throw line.
SLU is playing its first game in nine days after postpones. The Lions fell at home to Nicholls 86-84 in overtime in their last game on Feb. 13.

- The Islanders have been plagued by postponements all season. They've had seven conference games postponed to different dates. Prior to conference play beginning, the Islanders went 22 days between games due to postponements. They had their final two non-conference games canceled and first three SLC matches rescheduled.

Willis Wilson carries a 91-79 record against Southland Conference opponents. Wilson has won 142 games overall since arriving at The Island University and is the program's career leader in coaching victories.
