CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Returning to the hardwood for the first time since late January, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball is set for a Saturday, Feb. 20 home contest versus Lamar at 1 p.m. inside the American Bank Center.
A&M-Corpus Christi aims to pick up where they left off after clinching its first Southland win of the season over New Orleans by a 57-49 margin and snapping a six-game slide. In the win, the Islanders saw career-high contributions from the duo of
Olivia Dowden (15) and
Mireia Aguado (14), while
Makinna Serrata amassed 10 points in her third-straight double figure effort.
Despite the extended break, the Islanders maintain top marks with a 12
th overall national ranking in steals per game (11.4) and place third amongst conference members in blocked shots (55) and blocked shots per game (4.2).
Alecia Westbrook continues to be a powerhouse for the blue and green, leading in scoring (165/12.7 ppg) and rebounding (119/9.2 rpg).
Lamar enters Saturday's matchup with an 18-11 series edge; the Cardinals narrowly took the opening meeting of the season series 54-50 despite a big third-quarter push from the Islanders that erased a double-digit Cardinal lead.
The Islanders' last contest played at the American Bank Center was the 2020-21 season opener.
