HOUSTON – In its final road game before facing Southland Conference opponents, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will square off with Houston at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Fertitta Center.

The Islanders (5-5) are going for their first road win of the season. They are 5-0 this year at home.

In their last outing, the Islanders cruised to an 83-45 win over Schreiner and held a 55-31 rebounding edge and 62-26 advantage in points in the paint. A&M-Corpus Christi registered season-highs in field goals made (35), rebounds (55), assists (22) and blocks (12). Sophomore
Nabaweeyah McGill rejected a career-high six blocks to go along with 11 points and six rebounds in 13 minutes.

A&M-Corpus Christi has been tough defensively all season and ranks 12th in the nation in steals per game with 13.2. The Islanders grabbed a season-high 20 against St. Edward's, 17 against Schreiner and 15 at Rice.

In addition to steals, A&M-Corpus Christi ranks first in the Southland Conference scoring (69.5 ppg), assists (15.9 apg), rebounding margin (+5.6) and turnover margin (+4.0).

Junior
Alecia Westbrook averages a double-double of 13.0 points and 11.4 rebounds per game. She leads the league in rebounding and ranks third in steals (2.5 spg), fourth in field goal percentage (.519) and fifth in minutes played (30.8 mpg). She has four double-doubles on the year including 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in her last outing against Schreiner on Friday.

Senior
Makinna Serrata is the team's leading scorer with 13.4 points per outing, which is top-five in the conference. Serrata has scored in double-figures in four straight games.

Houston (6-5) has won three in a row with victories over Florida State 78-68, UL-Lafayette 63-51 and Jacksonville State 72-65. The Cougars also have wins this year over Arizona State 68-60, New Mexico 89-60 and Howard 80-48.

Like A&M-Corpus Christi, Houston has excelled on the defensive end and limits teams to 64.7 points per game. Laila Blair is the leading scorer with 13.2 points per game and is 23-of-60 (.383) from three-point range.

- The Islanders have mixed and matched their lineups all season and have used five different starting lineups in 10 games.

Annukka Willstedt puts in 9.2 points per game and notched 25 points against Tulane on 7-of-8 3FGs. Willstedt ranks second in the league in three-point percentage (.481) and is second in field goal percentage (.549).

Violeta Verano ranks first in the conference in assists (4.5 apg). She has dished out at least a pair of assists in every game this year and distributed a career-high seven at Rice.
