SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program will play a pair of neutral court games when it takes on IUPUI at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Denver at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Convocation Center, hosted by UTSA.

The games can be heard live for free on 1440 AM K-E-Y-S with
Steven King on the call. The games will not be live streamed.

The Islanders (1-1) hung tough against Texas A&M in their last outing on Sunday and outrebounded them 37-35. A&M-Corpus Christi led as late as the 14:10 mark of the second half.

Senior
Myles Smith surpassed 1,000 career points Sunday and is up to 1,004. He was named to the Preseason All-Conference First-Team. Two years ago, he was the team's leading scorer with 13.5 points per outing.

Trevian Tennyson is the team's leading scorer with 13.5 points per game. He was a perfect 7-7 from the floor and 4-4 from three-point range in the opener against Texas Lutheran. Grad transfer
San Antonio Brinson is the team's leading rebounder with 7.0 per game.

The
Steve Lutz-era began last Tuesday when A&M-Corpus Christi thumped Texas Lutheran on opening day 102-64 at the American Bank Center. The Islanders shot .500 (10-20) from three-point range. All 12 student-athletes that got in the game made at least one field goal.

IUPUI (0-2) will look to get in the win column after falling to Butler 56-47 and Evansville 60-40 to start the season. B.J. Maxwell leads the team in both scoring (11.0 ppg) and rebounding (5.0 rpg). The Jaguars are under the direction of first-year head coach Matt Crenshaw, who played for the team in 2000-04.

Denver (1-1) opened its season with a 68-65 win before falling to Ottawa (AZ) in a tight 72-71 battle. The Pioneers are holding the opposition to just a .210 percentage from three-point range. Offensively, K.J. Hunt averages 20.0 points per game.

- A&M-Corpus Christi is going for its first neutral court win since March 10, 2017 when it beat Stephen F. Austin in the semifinals of the SLC Tournament.

- As a team, the Islanders lead the SLC in assists (22.0 apg) and rank second in both field goal percentage (.489) and offensive rebounds (15.5 orpg).

- Tuesday will be the first-ever meeting between A&M-Corpus Christi and IUPUI.

- Wednesday will be the seventh meeting between A&M-Corpus Christi and Denver. The Islanders only win in the series came in the first-ever meeting on Dec. 21, 2001 in an 81-79 final in Corpus Christi. It's the first time the two teams will meet on a neutral court.

- A&M-Corpus Christi returned three starters from last season, which included Smith, senior guard
Simeon Fryer and senior forward
De'Lazarus Keys. Smith was second on the team in scoring with 9.1 points per game, while Keys was the team's leading rebounder and averaged 8.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per outing. Fryer aided the attack with 7.6 points per game.

- Lutz was announced the head coach in April 2021 after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at Purdue. During that span, the Boilermakers reached every NCAA Tournament including an Elite Eight in 2018-19 and a Sweet 16 in 2017-18.
