Men’s Basketball Signs Jourdyn Grandberry to National Letter of Intent

November 10, 2021

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The first signee for the 2022-23 season was inked Tuesday with the addition of Jourdyn Grandberry to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball program, announced by head coach Steve Lutz.

Grandberry is a 6-3, 170 guard from North Richland Hills, Texas. He'll arrive on The Island as a true freshman from Richland High School where he will play his senior season in 2021-22.

"We are excited to add Jourdyn to the Islander Family. He is a tremendous young man who comes from a wonderful family. He has been well coached in both high school and AAU and has won at a very high level. We are excited about the future of Islanders Basketball and expect Jourdyn to be a large part of it," Lutz said.

In his junior season, Grandberry was the 2020-21 6-5A District MVP and was a TABC 5A All-Region selection. He was ranked No. 33 in Rivals Top-100 Texas recruits for 2022 after averaging 15 points and six rebounds per game.

Grandberry had offers from DePaul, UT Arlington and Bryant.

He'll be pursuing a degree in engineering at A&M-Corpus Christi with a minor in business.
