Soccer Finishes Regular Season in Fourth-Place

SLC Bracket (PDF)

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –
Wrapping up the regular season on Senior Night, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi dropped a 1-0 decision to UIW on Friday at Dugan Stadium.

Prior to the game, A&M-Corpus Christi (7-10-1, 5-6-1 SLC) honored Reaghan Lang, Samantha Palomino and Hanleigh Allen in a special Senior Day ceremony.

The Islanders will enter the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed. They'll take on fifth-seeded Southeastern at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dugan Stadium. The fourth-place finish was the highest in program history for A&M-Corpus Christi.

UIW (6-10-2, 6-5-1 SLC) will be the No. 3 seed. The Cardinals scored the only tally of the night in the 51st minute on a shot from the middle of the box into the lower right corner by Inara Lopes De Andrade.

It was a relatively even game as UIW held a very slight 10-8 edge in shots and 5-4 in shots on goal.

"Tonight could have easily gone our way. I'm very pleased with the performance, energy and desire. There's a lot of positives to take into the tournament," said head coach Craig Shaw.

Lang led the offense with a pair of shots. Also with shots in the game were Palomino, sophomore Olivia Alvarez, sophomore Reese Cross, freshman Morgan Westbury, freshman Ellie Fox and sophomore Natalie Gonzalez.

In net, freshman Emily Levy made four saves. Sophomore Emma Herrera and freshman Emma Crump played all 90 minutes on the back line.

The Islanders will now turn their attention to Wednesday's match against the Lady Lions. A&M-Corpus Christi went 1-0-1 against SLU in head-to-head meetings this year. The Islanders are 5-3-1 at home this season.
