HAMMOND, La. – Freshman
Emma Crump headed in a goal in the final minute of the first half to guide the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer program to a 1-0 win over Southeastern on Sunday at Strawberry Stadium.

The Islanders (7-9-1, 5-5-1 SLC) are back to .500 in conference play after also defeating Nicholls 2-1 on Friday on the road. It concluded a six-game road stretch for A&M-Corpus Christi, one of the longest in program history.

"I am so happy for the team. They deserve this," said head coach
Craig Shaw. "They have had the best attitudes during a long road swing."

Crump's goal came in the 45th minute off a corner kick taken by fellow freshman
Carmen Cervantez, who registered the assist. Crump found space in the center of the box and headed a ball into the top right corner of the net for her first collegiate goal.

The Lady Lions (5-8-3, 3-5-3 SLC) could not break through A&M-Corpus Christi's defense all game. Crump and sophomore
Emma Herrera played all 90 minutes as center backs, and junior
Maddie Janolo, sophomore
Reese Cross, sophomore
Jayden Rea and junior
Alana Mangan stood tall across the back line.

Mangan and Crump fired shots on offense as well, in addition to sophomores
Molly Arens and
Maggie Murray.

Freshman
Emily Levy notched her third clean sheet of the season. She saved five shots to preserve the shutout.

Darby Gillette and Maycie Massingill took three shots apiece for the Lady Lions. It was A&M-Corpus Christi's first-ever road win at SLU.

The regular season finale is slated for Friday, Oct. 29 when A&M-Corpus Christi returns home to face UIW. The Islanders will also host the conference tournament on Nov. 3-7 at Dugan Stadium.
