CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's tennis programs will play home matches Thursday and Friday at the Henry Tennis Center, beginning at 11 a.m. each day.

The men (4-0) will serve it up Thursday in a doubleheader against Howard Payne (0-0) at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

On Friday, the men will host UL-Lafayette (0-4) at 11 a.m., and the women (4-0) will take-on UTSA (0-1) at 2 p.m.

"Some great rivalry matches coming up! Great intensity, history and always an electric atmosphere. Our men and women have been working extremely hard and getting better every day and are excited for the opportunity to compete every present point. These rivalry matches really showcase the great value of playing regional rivalries on a long-term basis. Our players really look forward to these matches and I believe the other team do too," said head coach

Moore is five wins away from reaching 500 in his career and sits at 495. The 11-time SLC Coach of the Year winner has coached the team to 11 NCAA Tournaments, 25 SLC Championships, 4 Top-40 National Rankings and 31 straight semesters with a GPA above 3.0.

Both the men and women are off to undefeated 4-0 starts. They have two wins over both Prairie View A&M and Trinity to open the season. The men knocked off a Trinity squad that defeated Rice 4-3 in its season opener.

Freshman
Carlos Berna Ruiz is the reigning Southland Conference Player of the Week winner. It came after he posted a 4-0 week in singles and bundled it with three doubles victories with
Pascal Lorieul.

The men are 20-2 in singles and 10-2 in doubles this season. Freshman
Nathan Schwartz is 4-0 in doubles and 3-0 in singles. He's partnered with senior
Chad Nguyen and freshman
Borja Delgado.

Sophomore
Mariya Shumeika was recognized as an SLC Honorable Mention for the women. She's off to a 4-0 start in singles with three wins coming at No. 2 and one at No. 1.

As a team, the women are 20-1 in singles and 11-1 in doubles. The doubles teams of Shumeika and sophomore
Camille Townsend, and freshmen
Leopoldine Boisseau and
Victoire Delattre are both 4-0.

Thursday will be the season opener for the Howard Payne men. The Yellow Jackets were 3-8 last year in the shortened season. The ULL men are 0-4 this year but have faced very stiff competition against Texas, Middle Tennessee, LSU and Mississippi State. The UTSA women are 0-1 with a 5-2 loss to Abilene Christian.

The men are 10-8 all-time against UL-Lafayette and 6-3 at home. It will be their first-ever meetings against Howard Payne. The women are 12-5 all-time against UTSA, including a 10-1 mark at home.
